A sports writer argued that an insurance company was “trying to kill” his fiancée because it denied coverage for a necessary procedure in her lymphoma treatment.

Cummings continued, “While sitting in the waiting room, we were told the insurance had denied the procedure. They didn’t give a reason. My best guess, they looked at the ‘plastic surgeon’ and obviously rejected it. The surgeon is angry, her care team is angry, and I’m angry at what can only be described as murder. Heads, spikes, that kind of thing.”

You can have a comfortable six-figure job, a stable and hopeful life, and have your life ruined by an arbitrary decision taken by a corporation. Everything wiped away in the name of shareholder value. Reminded that you are not a person with aspirations for life, you are a number on a spreadsheet for the ruling class.”
“Today this is who we are,” Cummings concluded. “Tomorrow it could be you. Never forget whose shoe is on your neck.”
