Famke Janssen thinks it was “a mistake” for Marvel not to ask her back Avengers: Doomsday.

The 61-year-old actress famously played Jean Grey, aka Phoenix, in the Fox original live-action X Men films during the early 2000s, in addition to brief appearances in the 2013 film The Wolverine and 2014 X-Men: Days of Future Past.

And while there have been some conflicting reports about her possible return for Avengers: Doomsday, Famke has remained adamant that she is not in the film, most recently during Nerdtropolis at SpaceCon 2026 when the question came up again.

“I’m so bad at keeping secrets that I always tell everyone I’m the worst actor in the world. It’s all on my face. You’ll read it right away,” Famke said. “I think they made a mistake, but hey, who am I? I’m just a little me thinking that.”

She also said she wished she “could have explored more of that, because it was so iconic and so powerful and interesting.”

The Taken star added, “If I had the chance, I would show you a truly amazing Phoenix.”

Avengers: Doomsday will see the return of several major ones X Men stars like Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Rebecca Romijn as mystical, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, and Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler.

Last November, Famke said Marvel “never” asked her to return as Jean Gray in the Marvel Universe.
