Young and restless spoilers for next week’s excitement when the July sweeps start, including Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) takes a big risk and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) is terrified after her mother receives a terrifying medical diagnosis that may actually be fatal.
We have the latest Y&R spoilers for the week of June 22, incl Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) to take a big step that we honestly expected would come and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) warn someone.
Young and the Restless: Matt Clark’s clumsy plan
And now, let’s get right to it. First, let’s talk about Matt Clark. So at the end of this week, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) overhears Matt talking to Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) and he asks Matt why he fanboys over him. And of course we know it’s because Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) ordered Matt to get close to Cane. And that way he can give Victor information that he can use to destroy Cane. But so far, honestly, Matt isn’t doing a good job because he’s not subtle at all. And Cane is already guessing that Victor is somehow involved. And Cane demands to know what his agenda is.
But Matt persists. He continues to work on Cane. And then Matt lies and says he was working on it Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) mother’s farm in Kansas. Cane doesn’t buy that Matt is a horse guy. Of course Victor has been giving Matt a lot of info and stories, because then he tells Cane that his dad got sick and he took care of him until he died, which is great sneaky because Victor knows Cane went through the same thing with his father, Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers). And then Matt claims that he somehow heard how Cane felt about his father, Colin, near the end of his life. And Matt talks about how it moved him. It’s all just that Victor is so awful.
Cane Blasts Matt on Y&R
But then Cane calls BS on everything Matt says to him. He’s not a fool and he tries to claim that he just wanted to talk to him because he needs Cane’s advice. So while that was going on, Phyllis Summers eavesdrops. And then she interrupts Matt and Cane’s conversation, and Phyllis asks what they’re doing together. Matt says that Adam introduced him to Cane. And Cane thinks it’s very practical. Then Matt tells Cane that he met Phyllis at GCAC. That’s it, Cane decides this is way too suspicious and he walks out.
Young and the Restless: Phyllis warns Matt and a potential romance
After he leaves, Phyllis asks Matt what he’s doing? And she tells him that Victor is asking her not to scold him. She doesn’t want that. But Phyllis warns Matt that Cane is already suspicious, and Phyllis is afraid it will all come back to bite Matt. We know Phyllis feels protective of Matt because he saved Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) life and Phyllis thinks Matt is a hero and she tells him so.
And he tells Phyllis that he just wants to make up for all the bad things he’s done. But Phyllis warns him that Victor is taking advantage of him and wants to stab him in the back. But Matt reminds Phyllis that she manipulated him too. And she circles back and tells Matt, “Look, I know you’re not a psychopath anymore.” And Phyllis warns again Matt to watch his back with Victor.
Young and the Restless: Matt & Phyllis can heat up
We recently made a video about some couple swaps and new pairings. And it looks like one of the new pairings we predicted could actually start next week because Phyllis is with Matt over at GCAC. Then things get a little bizarre when he tells Phyllis, “Once upon a time there was a man who had no memory.” And then Matt says, “And he met a woman and he asked her out.” So yeah, Matt is weird, but he’s asking Phyllis out on a date. It is certain. So we’ll see.
You know, Phyllis is hesitant, but even if she says no the first time Matt asks, I think Phyllis will cave and go out with Matt soon. But then again, Phyllis might just go ahead and say yes, the very first time Matt asks. Of course, this romance is going to shock Genoa City. And honestly, it’s just gross to think about Phyllis dating Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) rapist. Just so much ick.
Young and the Restless: Jack’s Plan to Find Diane
Also last week we had Jack Abbott worried sick due to Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) has done something bad Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) and she is stuck in Dr. Markham’s (Jere Burns) house. So this is our next topic. Jack keeps asking Patty to put him in touch with Diane’s psychiatrist, but Patty keeps putting him off. And now it seems Jack doubts that Patty is being honest about another doctor being involved. And Jack may suspect that her shrink Dr. Markham is the one holding Diane, which is accurate. So hopefully they won’t drag this mess out too long as it moves forward. I expect Jack to find Diane during the July sweeps starting Thursday, June 25th.
So next week Jack tells Billy about this, catches up with him and says what he needs to do is lure the doctor away from his house. But Billy is worried and claps back at Jack. What happens when the doctor becomes suspicious? So it almost sounds like Jack wants Billy to lure the doctor away that Jack can go inside there. Or maybe he wants to bait him and Billy goes in there to see if Diane is there. So it’s interesting.

Young and the Restless: Nikki’s Scary Diagnosis
And last but not least, we have to talk about Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) scary diagnosis. So at the end of this week, Victoria is really worried about Nikki. She told her that the headache was getting worse and that she was having problems with her vision. And then Victoria turns and tells Claire Grace Newman (Hayley Erin) that she is really worried. And Victoria says she is particularly concerned about this stress that Nikki is under. Her mother also doesn’t have her best friend Jack to lean on because of all the things he’s dealing with in his life.
And when Claire asks if maybe they should try to pressure Nikki and Victor to reconcile, Victoria says, “No, we just can’t interfere.” And says that Nikki and Victor have been through hard times before. They’ve broken up before, but this breakup hits Nikki very hard. Claire asks if there’s more to it. And finally, Victoria opens up and tells Claire about Nikki’s headache.
And Victoria thinks it might be more than just stress that’s affecting her mother. She brings up Nikki’s alcoholism, which is ironic since Claire pushed her grandmother off the wagon. Victoria is also worried about her mother’s multiple sclerosis. And she says all these health issues with Nikki are always playing in the back of Victoria’s mind.
Young and the Restless: Victoria struggles with her trauma and grief
And Claire is worried that Victoria is all doom and gloom over Nikki because Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck) came up and died unexpectedly. And Victoria admits that Claire is probably right. She is worried that she might lose Nikki too. So that brings us to what happens next week with Victoria and her mother. We won’t have to wait long because on Monday Nikki will get her diagnosis.
And it sounds extremely dangerous, potentially fatal if not treated promptly. When she finds out, she confides in Victoria, who will tell Nikki that we will do everything we can to make it right. And Victoria’s mother cries and says this can’t happen. We know it’s very serious, and Nikki is debating not telling Victor about her diagnosis at all, but Victoria might actually go out on her dad.
We’ll see. Be sure to check back tomorrow for our complete weekly spoiler video for the week of June 22, including lots more sweeps goodies, plus our weekly predictions, two spoilers, casting news and more.
