Bill Maher joins Charlie Kirk documentary: ‘I liked him as a person’

Well-known comedian and political commentator Bill Maher has confirmed that it will be released in the near future Charlie Kirk documentary. During a recent sit-down, the former late-night talk show host announced his involvement in the project about the life of the slain founder of Turning Point USA, before adding that he “liked him as a person.”

Bill Maher is set to appear in the Charlie Kirk documentary

On the June 8 episode of his podcast, featuring favorite ventriloquist Jeff Dunham as a guest, the Real Time with Bill Maher host revealed that he has agreed to star in an upcoming documentary about Charlie Kirk.

“By the way, they’re doing a documentary and they asked if I wanted to be in it,” Bill Maher further noted Club random. “I said yes. I’ll give them five minutes after my taping Friday night because – and I told them, ‘Don’t expect me to just say, you know, hagiography about Charlie.’ I liked him as a person. I’m glad I spoke to him.”

It was notable that Maher had interviewed Charlie Kirk last year. The duo had a lengthy conversation about faith, politics and culture, despite having differing views on various topics. However, five months after their meeting, the conservative activist was tragically murdered while attending Utah Valley University.

“I don’t think he was a monster,” the 70-year-old media personality continued. “And if you look at his statements, I read the full statements – of course, because everyone is only interested in gaining points for his team. They mischaracterized them.”

Bill Maher further defended Charlie Kirk, saying, “Even when I read the full statement, which was carefully characterized, I still didn’t agree with them. But it wasn’t what they presented. Again, it’s always in the middle. It wasn’t as bad as they said, but I still don’t agree.”

Meanwhile, Jeff Dunham, Maher’s guest of the day, praised him for conducting a coherent interview with Kirk last year. He said, “What I loved about the interview is that you sat there and thought about things and listened to him, let him talk, and it was a really great discussion.”
