For years there was a gap between them Prince Harry and the royal family has dominated headlines by producing interviews, documentaries and public accusations that appeared to leave little room for reconciliation.
Yet new reports suggest a thaw may be underway. As plans emerge for Harry, Meghan Markle, Archie and Lilibet to visit Britain next month, King Charles is reportedly excited to reconnect.
Yet not everyone within the royal circle seems ready to move on.

King Charles would love a chance to spend time with Prince Harry and his family when they travel to Britain in July, according to royal experts.
The visit would mark the first time in four years that Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet have all returned together.
Royal commentator Phil Dampier believes the king remains committed to repairing the fractured relationship with his youngest son.
“The king wants a reconciliation with his son and wants to see his grandchildren. I think he will want to avoid a public meeting on this trip because it would be a circus, but he would meet them privately,” Dampier said. Daily mail.
Any meeting would reportedly take place out of public view and likely on royal property.
The monarch is said to be particularly interested in spending time with Archie and Lilibet, who have rarely seen their grandfather since the Sussexes moved to California.
The possible reunion comes as preparations continue for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, an event Harry remains closely involved with.
Prince Harry still faces resistance within the family

While Charles may be open to reconciliation, other members of the family seem far less enthusiastic about the prospect.
Dampier suggested that Queen Camilla might be reluctant to participate in meetings involving the Sussexes.
The royal commentator noted: “But whether Queen is keen to meet Camilla is another matter. I wouldn’t be surprised if she has some family obligations and is avoiding them. She will feel she has been treated badly in Harry’s book Spare.”
The tension stems in part from claims Harry made in his memoirs. In ‘Spare’ he wrote that he and Prince William once urged their father not to marry Camilla, whom he described as ‘dangerous’, while expressing fears that she could become his ‘evil stepmother’.
Relations with Prince William also remain tense. Dampier made a blunt assessment of the chances of a reunion between the brothers.
He said: “However, it is now impossible for Harry to meet William and Catherine.”
Their relationship has been fractured for years following Harry’s allegations that William physically confronted him during an argument in 2019. Harry also recalled Charles pleading with his sons after Prince Philip’s funeral, saying: “Please, boys. Don’t make my last years a misery.”
Questions continue to follow Prince Harry’s motives

Not everyone is convinced that Prince Harry’s recent attempts at reconciliation are purely personal.
“He (Harry) has made it clear in recent months that he wants reconciliation with his family, but only he knows how genuine that is,” Dampier said.
He added: “Harry’s aim is to get him (Charles) as a guest of honor at the Invictus Games next year.”
Some observers have also wondered whether the Sussexes could benefit professionally from renewed royal connections.
“Cynics would say that Harry and Meghan feel their star power has waned in the US and that is why they need an injection of royal magic,” Dampier noted.
Reports that the couple could be accompanied by a Netflix camera crew have only increased concerns among royal insiders.
Since stepping down as working royals in 2020, Harry and Meghan have publicly discussed tensions within the family through interviews, documentaries and Harry’s memoir.
These revelations continue to fuel trust issues within the palace walls.
Palace assistants remain wary of another Sussex return

Royal commentator Richard Palmer says caution remains widespread among those working closest to the monarchy.
Palmer said: “There remains a fair degree of distrust within the Royal Household, and there is a fear that they will use every meeting with the monarch to strengthen their commercial brand. But in return, the king wants to have a relationship with his grandchildren.”
Despite these concerns, Palmer believes that Archie and Lilibet’s presence could create a chance for healing.
He added: “If Archie and Lilibet come around, I think it’s very likely the Sussexes will spend time with the King. There’s a good chance this could be the start of the family coming to terms with the rift and starting to try to rebuild relationships.”
He also acknowledged that full reconciliation remains unlikely in the near future, noting: “Things may never be the same, but families can learn to move on and find some kind of shelter after these types of conflicts.”
Palmer added: “Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales may be more cautious about meeting. It may take longer to win them over, but this could be the start of something.”
Prince Harry believes the time is ripe for peace

Behind the scenes there are signs that communication between father and son has improved.
A business associate of Harry’s in Los Angeles described a recent “heating of frost” between the duke and the king.
They told The Telegraph“Harry says he will return with the children before the end of the year with the express intention of reuniting with his father.”
The source continued: “He wanted his children to meet their grandfather, especially after their summit in London last year.”
Despite years of public conflict, the aide suggested attitudes could be changing, saying: “Although there have been deep-seated trust issues, there is now a sense that all parties want peace.”
Whether that peace will translate into lasting reconciliation remains uncertain. For now, royal watchers will focus on next month’s visit, which could prove to be the most important step yet in mending one of the monarchy’s most closely watched family rifts.
