Over the weekend, the world heard about Nancy Guthrie’s kidnappers are offering the safe return of her body. In exchange for ransom.
This was obviously a devastating, if not surprising, development.
On Tuesday, Savannah addressed the news as best she could.
She cried while describing the pain this case is causing her family.

‘This is unusual and unprecedented’
But the today show On Tuesday, June 23, anchors heard reporting on the case of Nancy Guthrie.
Of course, one of those anchors was Savannah herself.
She said she officially has “no comment” and is “not involved” in the “coverage” of her mother’s kidnapping and possible murder, but she can’t “pretend” she’s not there.
“It’s unusual and unprecedented, to say the least,” Savannah admitted after Liz Creutz’s coverage.
Earlier this year, Savannah was on leave from work as much of her mother’s kidnapping was unfolding. Now, she is back… and her mother’s case is making the news.
Savannah expressed, “So since I am I just want to take the opportunity to really ask people and really urge people to come forward because somebody knows something.”
“It’s a news story that’s on your radar today,” she admitted.
Savannah explained, “But this is the life that my sister (Anne Guthrie) lives, that I live, that my brother (Cameron Guthrie) lives.” “That our extended families survive, that our children survive every day.”
She further said that she and her relatives are “in agony” over the matter.
“We can’t live in peace,” Savannah explained.

‘It can be anonymous’
“It doesn’t matter how hard I try to come here every day and smile and find that happiness — and I will do that, I promise I will do that,” Savannah vowed.
“This is a moment to say we need your help,” he said, addressing the audience.
She explained: “I’m not going to miss that opportunity.”
Savannah emphasized: “No matter how small, the reward is there. You can tell us, it can be anonymous.”
She pleaded with the audience – or, more specifically, a specific unidentified viewer: “Please do the right thing.”
Savannah concluded, “We love our mom, and we will never stop looking for her. Ever.”
Craig Melvin agreed, urging any viewers with knowledge to contact the FBI tip line to bring “a little peace” to the Guthrie family.
He also praised Savannah’s flexibility and professionalism.
He affirmed, “The bravery and courage with which you have done this work every day since that incident has been nothing short of remarkable.”
Our thoughts continue to be with the entire Guthrie family.
