King Charles and the Duchess of Sussex have not seen or spoken to each other in person since September 2022. In fact, one of Charles’s first acts as king was to call Prince Harry and tell Harry that his wife was not welcome at Balmoral. In ExcessiveHarry wrote that what Charles said in that phone call was terrible. Meghan and Charles probably talked a few times about the mourning period and all the events of the funeral. But after that? Meghan started calling them all “my husband’s family” and she even talked about skipping Charles’s stupid coronation. Still, she clearly wouldn’t resent Harry for having an affair with his only surviving parent, nor would she order Harry to keep his children away from Charles. It is what it is. Leaving aside royal commentators, they keep the Sussexes’ July trip a question Would Charles like to see or speak to his daughter-in-law. Do royal commentators think they’re making Charles look terrible?

As Prince Harry is reportedly preparing to bring his family back to his homeland, partly to see his father, a big question is looming: will Meghan Markle meet the royals she has publicly despised? Royal experts tell Page Six that the always “diplomatic” King Charles would be keen to see Meghan Markle and would never leave her. However, any meeting would certainly be kept secret, with no photographers present.

As we reported, Prince Harry is getting his wish to bring Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, back to the UK next month for the first time in four years.

The Sussexes are traveling from California for a week of “Year to Go” events in anticipation of the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. It is believed that Harry’s security has been stepped up following a heated exchange with the British government over armed police in Britain demanding his protection. Sources from both parties say there’s no doubt that Charles, 77, is eager to spend time with his grandchildren, having seen 7-year-old Archie in person only a few times and Lilibet, 5, just once.

Royal biographer and family friend Hugo Vickers said, “I’m sure he will see the children.” “The king has always kept the door open, and he saw Harry last September. It is a good idea that Harry should reconcile with his father in private, for both of their sakes. The king made it clear that he did not want his final years to be unhappy, and Harry is so traumatized that, if Charles were to die without making peace between them, it would cause him even more problems,” Vickers said. “It’s a good thing for both sides.”

Although Markle, 44, has spoken out against the royal family and claimed she faced abuse and racism while living within the palace walls, going as far as detailing how she suffered suicidal thoughts, Vickers said Charles has always been “diplomatic.”

Despite the drama of the past few years, Vickers said, “It would make matters worse if the King refused to see him.”

We’ve learned that Charles is still planning to make his annual pilgrimage to Edinburgh, Scotland, for a tradition called Holyrood Week, which traditionally takes place from late June to early July each year. The king lives at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the monarch’s official Scottish residence — and he never changes his schedule because “he’s a busy man,” Vickers said.

But the timing means she must be available to meet Harry and his family, as the Invictus event is scheduled for July 10-17. However, another palace source fears Charles will be dragged into the Sussexes’ spotlight and the chaos that follows, adding: “Harry and Meghan will make it work like the royal family needs them, and Charles needs them.”

She cried and spoke like someone who was dealing with horrific levels of abuse from her husband’s family and the family’s weaponized media machinery. She didn’t “stop”, she told her side of the story, including correcting several notable lies that had been fed to the press by the family. Positioning Charles as someone who has every right to humiliate or ignore Meghan for what she said about her ordeal is not the right way to speak about this. “However, another palace source fears Charles will be dragged into the Sussexes’ spotlight and the chaos that follows…” I mean, Charles did see those sparse crowds at Trooping the Colour. He saw all those yellow “Not My King” signs. It’s possible that he also wants some of the Sussex sparkle, that he wants to change his serious, deadbeat-dad image.
