A long time Fox News weather anchor Janice Dean is leaving the network after more than twenty years.
Dean, who co-hosts and is responsible for the weather portion of the popular film Fox & Friends program, makes the decision to resign due to symptoms of multiple sclerosis.
On Thursday, Dean spoke about her recent absence from the show and her decision to step away via a message on X.
Before her video message, Dean wrote in part: “Goodbyes are hard. But they are necessary before you can meet again…”
In her video, Dean 56 stated, “For a long time, I could deal with the early mornings, the long hours on my feet, the stress of broadcasting live. Getting up at 2:30 in the morning and performing something is hard, but especially for someone who has multiple sclerosis.”
Dean was first diagnosed with MS in 2005.

“…Eventually my symptoms worsened to the point where I could no longer continue working in my position and my doctors agreed that a step back was necessary for my health…”
An Ontario native, Dean has worked at Fox News since 2004. Before joining the network, she worked in radio and television in Canada and also as a law enforcement officer.
Following news of Dean’s resignation, Fox News released a statement that read in part: “…Her willingness to share her personal journeys has touched lives and served as a source of strength and encouragement to many. We fully support Janice’s courageous decision to step away from her role as senior meteorologist at ‘Fox & Friends’ and are grateful for her many contributions.”
