Sara Cox is set to become the new host of the Radio 2 breakfast show.

Speaking about her new role, Cox told The Times: “It’s huge but I’m ready. I might have to bury my phone in my neighbour’s sandpit a few days early because I don’t like people sending me well wishes, but as soon as I get my mic on, I’ll be fine.”
As she takes on the new hosting gig, she will have to say goodbye to her teatime show for the BBC, which she has run since 2018. Moving from a 4pm to 7pm slot to a morning show might be a bit of a change, but Sara is adamant that she is not nervous.
She added, “I’m not nervous because I know I can do a good job. I don’t want to sound arrogant, but I’ve been doing radio for 28 years.”
“I think if you’re ambitious, you always want to do the next big thing. After working for seven years on a show I love so much, where I give 100 percent every day, I felt ready for another challenge.
“I was ready to do something new and a little scary because I love that feeling. It keeps you interested and interesting.”

Set to make the slot her own, she also noted another difference between her two shows: “The big difference is that we didn’t have a single celebrity at tea time. The stars were always regular listeners.
