The season finale of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island ends with a trip to Block Island and an arrest. Kelsey has decided to host in an attempt to get the group back together, but there are still a lot of fires to put out first. But if Kelsey can make it (somewhat) good Rosieeverything is possible!
Everyone is busy packing for Block Island. Liz goes on this journey trying to be carefree, but she doesn’t hold back Jo-Ellen will behave the same way. Rosie just wants to have fun and Liz is excited to go to the site of her engagement and wedding.
Husbands and boyfriends will also be present during this trip. At the ferry meeting point, a fake hug ensues with Liz and Jo-Ellen, and Jo-Ellen compares their friendship to “an abusive relationship” that she keeps returning to.
Rulla and Brian are the last to arrive and things are…awkward. Rulla has “mixed feelings” about being stuck on an island with Jo-Ellen. An hour later they arrive at their destination, but it’s cold and windy, which isn’t quite the atmosphere Kelsey was going for.
Squeezing into some cabanas, Jo-Ellen and Liz decide to take a walk to maybe get ahead. Jo-Ellen wonders if Liz thinks they have a real friendship. Things have been done and said in the heat of the moment that have broken trust, but Liz suggests starting over from a new place. Jo-Ellen just wants to move on and Liz is ready for that. They hug it out and the tension is released.
Before Jo-Ellen and Liz rejoin the group, Rulla thanks the other girls for coming back. She admits she hasn’t spoken to Jo-Ellen since polo. The stress of it all has taken a toll on her and according to Rulla, it doesn’t seem like Jo-Ellen is really a true friend to her. However, for some ladies it seems as if Rulla does not want to accept reality and just continues to defend her man. Brian.
Alicia‘s fiancée Billy talks to Jo-Ellen’s husband about their lack of a wedding. He feels like he has let Alicia down. Alicia loves a good fairy tale, but their proposal ten years ago didn’t feel very romantic. Billy didn’t even get down on one knee and he thinks a new proposal is just what they need to reset.
Rulla makes it clear that this video that Jo-Ellen showed to everyone in the castle is no one’s business. She wants to process her story in her own way. But in the meantime, Rosie tells Jo-Ellen about the latest.
Rulla knows (thanks to Rosie) that there is a video floating around with Brian and his mistress. When Brian walked up, he was bright red after being confronted. Brian dismissed the video as fake, but Jo-Ellen refuses to be called a liar. Rosie points out that it is easier for Rulla to call Jo-Ellen a liar than to admit that her husband is cheating. The evidence is there… and Rulla asked Jo-Ellen about the facts. Jo-Ellen didn’t just go looking for the drama.
They go to the Atlantic Inn and find their quaint rooms. Jo-Ellen is happy to report to her husband that things are better between her and Liz now. But when it comes to Rulla, Jo-Ellen won’t let go of the mouse. Rulla was the one who asked Jo-Ellen for proof of the affair and when she came to Rulla with the evidence, Jo-Ellen certainly shouldn’t be called a liar just because Rulla can’t handle it!
Before the rest of the group arrives, Billy takes Alicia to a romantic setup. Alicia admits that Billy never does anything like that for her and that when he makes such a gesture, she is blown away. He pries Alicia’s engagement ring off her finger and proposes again, but this time he gets down on one knee to propose (again, after 10 years). This is a symbol of a restart. Now it’s time for them to move on.
Rosie and Rich shout congratulations from the window and Alicia suggests they renew their proposal every ten years. Alicia lets Billy know that she wants a new ring, but one so big that it will fall off her hand. Maybe THEN she’ll start thinking about the wedding…
Jo-Ellen visits Rulla’s room. She wants to clear the air with Rulla and claims she’s not trying to overstep; she only got the proof Rulla asked for. Jo-Ellen doesn’t want to be called a liar by Brian if she has been honest and told the truth. Rulla has no intention of seeing this video as anyone can fake a date and time stamp. This is all too sensitive for Rulla. Jo-Ellen informs Rulla that she won’t bring it up again and they decide to put it all to bed.
Meanwhile, Jo-Ellen’s husband pulls Brian aside to confront him. Brian admits he was filmed (so the video IS real), but wants to try to move past all the drama. Jo-Ellen makes things difficult as she continues to expose all his dirty dealings.
Later while frying clams, Kelsey announces that they are going to play a clamshell confessional game, which makes Rulla a little nervous. Kelsey admits it’s a bit dark, but it should make for good entertainment. The game starts out cute, reminiscing about favorite summer memories, etc., but takes a turn when Rulla pulls out a shell that says, “What’s the most embarrassing thing your partner has done in public?” Uncomfortable.
Instead of answering, she passes the question on to hubby Jo-Ellen. When asked another question, “Who is the one person who will stab you in the back but smile in your face?” Rulla responds, admitting that she may have said Jo-Ellen earlier this summer, but these days her thoughts have changed. Rulla doesn’t think anyone in the group ‘fits that mold’ and they call each other ‘ride or die b*tches’.
Brian gives a speech about how proud he is of the way Rulla handled all the inconveniences, because now they are the most popular and the ones everyone talks about the most. What?! Rulla becomes emotional talking about the support system around her and Jo-Ellen tells Alicia that she spoke to Rulla kindly and privately.
Rosie thinks it’s weird that they’re blaming Jo-Ellen for all of Rulla’s anxiety, and Rosie points out that the real problem is right next to her and it’s Brian. Who, by the way, tells Rulla that he is happy that she has put her ‘ego and pride aside for the good of our family.’ It is certain that Rulla has no intention of divorcing this man. In the end, Kelsey is so happy to find that the group seems healed and that they are all on the same page.
Rosie’s house remains under construction, as does her friendship with Kelsey. And there are no children planned at the moment. Jo-Ellen is working on bonding with her mother and putting the past behind her with Rulla, but she is still communicating with Brian’s mistress…
Liz and Dolores’ gummies have been launched and she not only gets a granddaughter, but also a son-in-law. Kelsey’s ex stops paying her rent and she finally learns how to write a check. Ashley’s family is still hanging on from Audreyand she rakes in the money through all her social media deals. Alicia and Billy are planning their wedding and she tries to gain more creative control over Pizza Mama. She is also working on her own crack-ah line.
Rulla forgave Brian for the video, but a month later Brian found himself in a whole world of trouble. He pleaded not guilty to a domestic violence charge and Rulla filed a restraining order against him. It turns out that Brian was arrested for following Rulla’s car. It looks like her car knows more about her marriage than she does! This is considered stalking and falls under domestic violence in RI. Rulla had to take her car to the nearest police station to have the tracker removed.
Jo-Ellen claims she always got a weird feeling from Brian and says his mistress picked him up from prison. WTF. It seems Jo-Ellen has been proven right, but Rulla finds it difficult to be ‘grateful’ for everything Jo-Ellen tried to bring to light. But where does Rulla go now?
