Chelsea Handler is used to being the one to make blunt statements. This time, however, it is her in the hot seat.
Gina Yashere didn’t hold back while talking about her experience on Handler’s previous talk show, labeling her a “terrible woman” in a candid podcast appearance. The comments quickly spread online.
Chelsea Handler has built a career on bold, unfiltered comments, but the tables have now turned. Several controversies gather at once and put her reputation under intense scrutiny.
Yashere didn’t mince words while discussing her time as a guest on “Chelsea Lately” during a recent appearance on the “One54 Africa” podcast. “She’s a terrible woman,” Yashere declared bluntly.
The British comedian recalled feeling rejected by Handler before her segment even began. “Chelsea walks up and down the aisle. She didn’t say hi to me, walks past me, doesn’t acknowledge me at all,” Yashere claimed, despite Handler knowing she was booked as a guest.
During the roundtable segment, Yashere says Handler kept repeating phrases like “welcome to our country.” Yashere decided to ignore the dig and aimed his jokes directly at the audience instead of eliciting strong laughs.
A producer reportedly praised her performance afterward and promised a return invitation, only for Handler to claim the next day that she “didn’t understand” Yashere’s accent. “I was like, your finger bra,” Yashere said. “I never liked her since then. She was awful.”

Handler has also come under fire for allegedly taking advantage of the very Hollywood culture she now criticizes. The explosion reported that insiders questioned her past ties to disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein, claims that resurfaced after a recent roast appearance.
Sources told reporter Rob Shuter’s “Naughty But Nice” Substack that Handler often attended high-profile dinners and Oscar parties hosted by Weinstein during his peak years of influence. “Chelsea is now acting disgusted by Hollywood culture, but she absolutely benefited from it,” a source said.
Interest in her past ties intensified after comedian Shane Gillis brought up her former dinner with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during a recent roast, which again sparked scrutiny of her industry connections.
Chelsea Handler Criticized for Positioning Herself as a ‘Fearless Outsider’

Another insider quoted in The explosionThe report suggested that her participation in Weinstein’s events was strategic rather than social. “No one went to Harvey’s dinners because they thought he was charming,” the source noted, adding that people attended because they wanted access.
The comedian’s motive for attending such gatherings was reportedly to expand her career opportunities and gain favor with Hollywood’s most powerful players at the time.
Online critics seized on the apparent contradiction between Handler’s public persona as an industry truth teller and her previous willingness to socialize with the very people she now condemns.

Handler also found himself under fire after criticizing other comedians involved in the Netflix roasting of Kevin Hart. The explosion reported that her remarks on Deon Cole’s “Funny Knowing You” podcast labeling the event “gross” ultimately backfired.
She specifically targeted comedians Shane Gillis and Tony Hinchcliffe, claiming insider knowledge suggested they were “racist” and “sexist”. “Lynching black people is not a joke. It’s worse than rape,” she said of one particular part.
Instead of earning support, Handler was labeled a “disgrace to comedy” by critics online, many of whom pointed out that she herself participated in the same roast she condemned.

In response to Handler’s public remarks, Shane Gillis wasted no time firing back. As reported by The explosioncame the comedian’s response through a spokesperson, who relayed the tongue-in-cheek comment directly to Handler.
“This is a big moment for Chelsea. I’m glad she’s capitalizing. Good for her. We’re all with her,” Gillis’ rep said, dismissing the criticism outright. Then he switched gears and started marketing a comedy event that was coming up.
Tony Hinchcliffe, the other comedian named in Handler’s remarks, has not publicly responded to her accusations. His silence stands in stark contrast to Gillis’ swift and dismissive comeback.
The fallout from the roast has only added to a growing list of feuds swirling around Handler this year, with comedians across the industry now openly questioning her credibility.
Has Chelsea Handler finally run out of allies in the comedy world, with Yashere’s exuberant podcast comments, Weinstein-era scrutiny and a bitter controversy colliding all at once?
