Pooh Shiesty seeks release from custody –

Pooh Shiesty asks a federal judge to release him while he awaits trial in a kidnapping and robbery case linked to Gucci Mane.

The Memphis rapper, whose real name is Lontrell Williams Jr. has filed a new petition in Texas federal court asking a judge to reconsider an earlier order to detain him. His lawyers are proposing strict release conditions, including 24-hour confinement, GPS monitoring, restricted travel, drug testing, no contact with the alleged victims and intensive supervision.

Pooh Shiesty’s legal team maintains that he poses no danger to the community or a flight risk, and they also claim that an alleged victim later denied the incident on social media and question whether the kidnapping charge belongs in federal court.

Prosecutors strongly disagree, saying they are not aware of any alleged victim recanting a statement and claiming the rapper’s lawyers have provided no evidence of a recantation.

In their filing, prosecutors argued that “no condition of release can protect the community or witnesses against Williams Jr. from the danger he poses.”

They also wrote: “The danger here is concrete. Williams Jr. has shot at least two people himself. He leads a Memphis street gang of about a hundred members. He is a man who can summon an armed entourage at will.”

Williams has pleaded not guilty. His father, Lontrell Williams Sr., and rapper Big30 have also pleaded not guilty.

A judge has not yet ruled. The trial is scheduled for February 2027.
