Michelle Obama continues its work following comments from UFC fighter Josh Hokit. The martial artist was declared the winner at Sunday night’s UFC Freedom 250 event, where he defeated Derrick Lewis on June 14 on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, DC. As fans celebrated his big win, a moment from the post-match interview sparked controversy online.

Hokit was interviewed by Joe Rogan. During his comments after the matchhe said, “And after all, Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?” The comment appeared out of nowhere and immediately went viral. Even Rogan seemed shocked by the comment, though he simply replied, “Ladies and gentlemen, Josh Hokit.”

Reports indicate that the White House has not yet officially responded to Hokit’s comments. The comment shocked both the live audience and viewers online. However, it appears that Michelle was not significantly affected by the incident. Barack Obama shared a joint post with her on Instagram, celebrating the unveiling of a new portrait of them together.

The post shows the Obamas standing in front of the enormous portrait along with Njideka Akunyili Crosby, a Nigerian-born artist. In the caption, they expressed their excitement about the unveiling of their first portrait together.

The 44th US president added that the portrait reflects several chapters of his and Michelle’s lives. “We are thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center beginning June 1,” the caption read.
