Telegraph: The Sussexes will ‘live in a royal residence’ during their July trip

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are almost certainly planning to visit the UK in July, and it’s very likely they will bring their children along. Team Sussex still hasn’t confirmed anything, which I find interesting. Or maybe not, you know? We’ve always known that palaces leak like a sieve, and here’s further proof. What I find shocking is that these stories are not coming solely from the palace, they may be leaking from police and/or government sources with knowledge of the arrangements surrounding the trip. Given that Harry gave 30 days’ notice to the police/Home Office (as he is supposed to in order to get protection), the timing of all these stories makes sense. So, now that the British media is outraged, it’s apparently time to reveal that King Charles offered some kind of royal accommodation to Prince Harry and his family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will stay at the royal residence with their children when they return to the UK next month, The Telegraph can reveal. The family was offered both housing and security provisions by the king, a clear indication of his desire to be reunited with his young grandchildren.

Prince Harry had long planned to return to the UK to attend events marking the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games 2027 in Birmingham. But their decision to bring along Meghan, seven-year-old Prince Archie, and five-year-old Princess Lilibet was made after recent assurances from Buckingham Palace. The invitation to stay within the safety of the royal residence meant that the Duke felt confident enough to bring his wife and children back for the first time in four years.

She is said to be eager to introduce them to family and friends, as well as aspects of royal and British culture that they may not have experienced growing up in Montecito, California. He had previously said that they would not be safe without adequate, state-backed security, and that he could not risk putting them “in danger”.

The Duke was offered accommodation at Buckingham Palace in 2024, but turned it down because he did not have police protection. The entrances and exits to the palace are so open that she believed she would be a “sitting duck”. However, this time the palace assured that the family will also get protection.

The full extent of that provision is not yet known. Despite sharing his travel plans within the allotted time frame, the Duke has not heard any response from the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (REVEC), the Home Office committee responsible for such decisions.

He will be taking part in a number of events promoting the one-year countdown for Invictus as well as some of his remaining patrons including WellChild and Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

The Duchess’s attendance at Invictus events has not been confirmed. However, she has been a staunch supporter of the initiative since her first official appearance with Duke at the 2017 Games in Toronto, regularly addressing the athletes and cheering them on from the stands.

It is not yet known whether the children will be seen at any official event. The Duke and Duchess have long protected their privacy but they know they can’t always do so.

(from The Telegraph)

“The Duke and Duchess have long protected their privacy but they know they cannot always do so.” I also find this shocking, it’s basically a slow reveal that the British press has put a bounty on pictures of Archie and Lily’s faces. British media will claim this “Harry and Meghan know they can’t hide their children forever.” Incidentally, I don’t believe Archie and Lily are going to any public events. I think he’s being included on this trip specifically so he can spend time with Charles.

there is mail already thinking out loud As for which “royal residence” will be used to house the Sussex family, they suggest St. James’s Palace, Windsor Castle or Sandringham. Keep in mind, the Sussexes will be in Birmingham for two days, and I’m sure they’ll be staying in a hotel there. Then they will be in London for WellChild and maybe some other events, so… London accommodation for a day or two would probably be best. Although it would have been extremely ridiculous if he had gone to Norfolk for a weekend with King Charles. Prince William he’s going to lose his mind completely.
