Bella Hadid struggles with ‘severe isolation and depression’ fight against chronic diseases.

The model opened up about her mental health “hardships” in a lengthy Instagram Story statement on Thursday.

“I wish it wasn’t so intimidating and difficult to explain the pain/exhaustion/fatigue/anxiety/brain fog/insecurities that come with chronic illness/co-infections/mental health trauma, etc.,” she told her followers.

After describing what is “impossible (for others) to fully understand,” the 29-year-old shared some bright spots from her time: a fluffy poncho and gifts from a friend.

However, Hadid followed this up with a tearful selfie.

“I haven’t been able to shake this flare-up,” she captioned the close-up photo. “11 hours of sleep. Again… I’ve followed every protocol from every doctor I’ve ever seen. Still nothing helps.”

She gave her friends a sweet shoutout.

Hadid, who “walked to the kitchen out of breath,” joked that her “last two” brain cells were “wrestling with each other.”

She continued, “I showered without passing out… so again, if you know… that felt like a really big achievement for me today.”

Hadid followed up the emotional uploads with an apology for “horrifying” or “worrying” all of her fans with her “shocking” reality.

“This has really been a daily ebb and flow for me for the past 15 years,” she clarified. “I just had an overwhelming amount of emotions about not being able to do the things that my mind can do but my body can’t.”

The message concluded: “Every day is a new day and tomorrow, God willing, I hope is a better one. I love you guys so much, thank you for all your support. I didn’t expect it, but I’m really grateful. I love you guys so much.”

Hadid was diagnosed with Lyme disease as a teenager.

She regularly provides insight into her years of battle against the disease on social media posted alarming photos of herself in hospital last year.

“I’m sorry I always go MIA, I love you guys,” Hadid captioned the September 2025 Instagram carousel.

Gigi Hadid shared in the comments her hope that her sister would feel “as strong and good as she deserves,” while their mother, Yolanda Hadid, called Bella a “Lyme warrior.”

During a Hospital admission 2023Bella wrote that “being sad and sick with most blessings/privileges/opportunities/love around (her) was perhaps the most confusing thing ever.”

Jolanda, who revealed Bella’s battle with Lyme disease in 2015 too suffers from the diseaseas does her son, Anwar Hadid.
