Sullivan’s crossing star Marcus Rosner reveals his fears about joining the CW drama series as journalist Liam Davies, and why he was initially intimidated by co-star Chad Michael Murray. Sullivan’s crossing introduced Liam in the season 3 finale, when he revealed that he was the long-lost husband of Dr. Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan). Maggie believed Liam abandoned her shortly after their whirlwind romance and wedding, while he never returned after leaving to tell a story. She filed for an annulment, but the paperwork was never completed, so Maggie and Liam are still married.
In Sullivan’s crossing season 4Liam revealed to Maggie that he had been held hostage for three years while on assignment and had been unable to contact her. Maggie clearly still has feelings for him, and they even shared a secret kiss. Additionally, Liam’s arrival has put strain on Maggie’s new relationship with Cal Jones (Murray). Now, Rosner shares the pressure he felt when he brought Liam into the fold Sullivan’s crossing.
Marcus Rosner from Sullivan’s Crossing worries about Liam coming between Maggie and Cal
In an interview with We weekly shared via Instagram, Rosner shared his fears about joining the show, including his concerns about Liam coming between Maggie and Cal in the show’s fourth season. He explained, “I mean, it’s terrifying. I mean, it’s a righteous TV show that’s largely about two people falling in love. And to come into Season 4 and try to get in the middle of that between an incredible actress in Morgan Kohan who plays Maggie and Chad Michael Murray, who was literally in the high school lockers of all the girls I knew, was daunting.”
However, Rosner’s faith in Liam as a character kept him going. He said: “But I really believed in the character, and I really liked the character, and I kind of just focused on him.”
Marcus Rosner was intimidated by Chad Michael Murray when he first joined Sullivan’s Crossing
Rosner also admitted that he was intimidated by Murray when he first joined Sullivan’s crossingbut Murray welcomed him with open arms. He shared, “I’ll tell you. I walked onto this set pretty intimidated. Like I said, the guy was in all the girls’ lockers when I was in high school. And I told him so. We had some funny conversations about this fact.”
Rosner acknowledged that Murray didn’t have to make it easy for him, but said he and the rest of the cast and creative team made him feel right at home. He said: “And he could have made things very difficult for me. And he’s just not that kind of person. And because of the open-arms approach that he took, I felt comfortable enough to do the work that I had to do and portray the character that I had to portray. And I just can’t say enough about him and Morgan and Roma Roth, the creator, and everyone who really opened their arms and welcomed me into this beautiful family that they have there in Halifax.”
Although Rosner’s character Liam unintentionally causes problems for Maggie and Cal, a couple who Sullivan’s crossing fans have waited many years to be together, he is still someone to root for due to his troubled past. Rosner plays Liam with such sensitivity and emotion, so it’s easy to understand why Maggie fell in love with him so quickly, and why she still has feelings for him now. It’s great to hear that everyone is present Sullivan’s crossing was so welcoming to Rosner. Hopefully Rosner will continue to be Liam even if his character doesn’t end up with Maggie.
Sullivan’s crossing airs Mondays at 8pm ET on The CW.
