Your favorite scary movie doesn’t make the cut.
Adapted from ‘Scream 2’ star Craig Shoemaker went to Instagram Speaking about how he was paid $34.09 for his role in the 1997 horror film, fans flocked to the comments section to call him out.
“So a quarter of a century ago you had a small role in a sequel to a multi-film franchise. Not sure if you’re furious or legitimately whining,” a follower commented under the post.
Shoemaker, 61, replied: “How about none of the above, and the anger inside you is the only bait? Lol.”
“Better than nothing,” another social media user added. “Could a better negotiation change that? Because you were a day player.”
“It’s said with humor and nothing else. If you don’t understand it, move on,” Schoenmaker clapped back.
Others found humor in Shoemaker’s post, in which one fan said, “Now, don’t be silly… that’s $34 before taxes. Soooo $25 dollars?”
“S–t,” the actor replied. “I didn’t think about that. I’m craving a hot dog and lemonade right now.”
“In 1997, I was cast in the role of a film professor in the sequel to the original Scream film, Scream 2, where I lead a class discussion about sequels,” Shoemaker originally wrote on Tuesday alongside a recording of the letter.
“The residuals keep pouring in, honey! What should I buy with my $34?” he teased.
“Scream” premiered in 1996 and starred Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Skeet Ulrich, Rose McGowan, Matthew Lillard and Jamie Kennedy.
The sequel hit theaters a year later, in 1997, and followed Sidney Prescott (Campbell) in college.
Along with Campbell, the cast included Arquette, Cox, Kennedy, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Laurie Metcalf, Jerry O’Connell, Timothy Olyphant, Jada Pinkett Smith and Liev Schreiber.
According to IMDb, Shoemaker is listed as having played “Artsy Teacher” in the film.
In 2022, Campbell, 52, decided to do just that walk away from the franchise’s sixth film due to a salary dispute.
“Unfortunately, I will not be making the next ‘Scream’ movie,” she said in a statement to Page Six at the time.
“As a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to ‘Scream’.”
The franchise made headlines again in 2023 Melissa Barrera was fired from “Scream 7” following a series of comments about the war between Israel and Hamas.
Jenna Ortega, who starred alongside Barrera, 35, in 2022’s ‘Scream’ and 2023’s ‘Scream VI’, revealed that she has also left the franchise.
Ulrich, 56, meanwhile, confirmed to The Post that he would be in “Scream 7” – despite dying in the first film – until Barrera was dropped.
The actress played his on-screen daughter in the films.
But nearly 30 years after the iconic slasher franchise first debuted, most of the OG cast reunited for “Scream 7,” which premiered last February.
Campbell and Cox made a comeback alongside Lillard, 56, and Arquette, 54, despite their characters being killed off. Metcalf, 71, and Scott Foley also reprized their roles from previous films.
The film marked “Scream” creator/writer Kevin Williamson’s first time directing, following the 2015 death of Wes Craven, who directed the first four films in the franchise. Williamson took over after Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who directed the 2022 and 2023 episodes, left.
“Oh, it was great (to return),” he gushed to The Post last summer. “I’ve always been on the fringes of the last few ‘Scream’ films, as a sort of grandfather of the franchise.”
