‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ is coming to the sphere


The cult classic The Rocky Horror Photo Show is being renewed for the Las Vegas Sphere.

In a press release, Sphere Studios announced that they will “use cutting-edge technologies to enhance the original beloved 1975 film. Audiences should prepare to return to the iconic madness of The Rocky Horror Picture Show in Spherewhich is expected to open in 2027.”

Since his debut, The Rocky Horror Photo Show has enjoyed life as one of the most interactive movie experiences. Fans often dress up in costume, throw props and sing along to the tunes. The Sphere experience will build on this and create an environment unlike any other film.

‘Rocky Horror’ seems to follow the success of ‘Wizard of Oz’ Sphere

This is the latest step in The Sphere’s ongoing commitment to create unique and dynamic programming around its busy concert schedule. The state-of-the-art venue – with a 160,000 square foot wraparound LED screen and spatial audio – has had great success with Wizard of Oz in the spherewhich recently surpassed $400 million in ticket sales since its launch in August 2025. They hope The Rocky Horror Picture Show in Sphere will produce similar results.

“Through Sphere Studios, we are building a series of original experiences that push the boundaries of technology and storytelling for this new medium, while always keeping the audience at the center of the experience,” said Jim Dolan, Executive Chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment, in a statement. “Since The Rocky Horror Photo Show Premiering in 1975, it redefined audience participation and became a cultural phenomenon. With Sphere, we have the opportunity to take that spirit of immersion to a whole new level.”

Exactly when in 2027 The Rocky Horror Photo Show will debut on the Sphere has yet to be announced. In addition to the ongoing Wizard of Oz performances, the venue has a long list of concert residencies planned for the rest of this year, including the Eagles, MetallicaBackstreet Boys and country singer Kenny Chesney.
